What is a typical couple height difference?
In the US the average man is 175.3 cm (5′ 9″) and the average woman 161.3 cm (5′ 3.5″), a gap of 14 cm or about 5.5 inches. Worldwide the averages are about 171 cm and 159 cm, 12 cm apart.
Studies of married couples find that the man is taller in roughly nine out of ten pairs, and that partners pair up a little closer in height than chance alone would predict. There is no “right” difference: the chart is for curiosity, outfit planning and photos.
Planning photos and heels
Add 2–3 cm for most men’s shoes and 5–10 cm for heels. To check how it will look, add each person twice in the main chart, once barefoot and once in shoes.
